Hi there, I'm Heather - a portrait photographer based in St. Charles, Missouri.
I'd venture to guess you and I are a lot alike. I take a thousand pictures of my two daughters on my iPhone every year, but so far I haven't use even one of them on our family's annual Christmas card. Not that they're not important- they are. But, let's be honest - I think we can agree that there isn't much on my camera roll that could be considered artistic. But portrait photography is not about documenting the everyday- our phones do that.
I believe portrait photography is about creating personalized artwork.
I believe family portraiture doesn't have to be expensive or complicated or intimidating. I think that cheesey "bite and smiles" are just as important as real smiles and the facial expressions that reflect your kids' personalities. I believe kids can be kids and skin is not green and that we can create great artwork together even if we're not on top of a fantastical mountain landscape. Do you agree? If so, I bet we'd be a great fit.
I see myself foremost as an artist.
My interest in portraiture is more than 30 years in the making. I used to sketch people endlessly as a kid. I didn't believe portrait art was something I could seriously pursue as a career, so I explored other things. After graduating from Saint Louis University, I pursued a career in marketing and communication design in the construction industry. Although it wasn't exactly portraiture, it was still creative.
I married the most wonderful man, and together we are raising two amazing daughters under the careful watch of our beagle-bully mix.
Becoming a parent inspired me to learn portraiture in a new and more technical language: photography. Though the medium is different, the heart of the artwork is still the same. With lots of practice and a big leap of faith, I started my photography business.
Parenthood is a wild ride, and truly does go so fast. I am here to make it easy and affordable enough for you to prioritize having your family's portraits done year after year, without stress on set or high-pressure upsell tactics after your gallery is delivered.
I enjoy this, my lifelong passion for portraiture, and I want you to know I am as excited about your gallery as you are. I offer limited dates/times so I can best serve my clients, and appreciate each and every referral I receive.
